Feds, province invest $444M in rent support for low-income Albertans
Close to 35,500 Albertans will be helped by a provincial and federal government investment in rental assistance.
The governments are providing $444 million to meet the significant housing needs of low-income renters until 2028.
“Far too many people in Canada are forced to make the impossible choice between paying their rent and and being able to buy their groceries,” said Ahmed Hussen, minister of families, children and social development and minister responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
Many people were already struggling to pay rent and the COVID-19 pandemic only made those challenges more difficult.
