City of Grande Prairie down to five active COVID-19 cases, Alberta adds 23

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the City of Grande Prairie is down to five, as the City saw two recoveries and no new cases added since Wednesday’s update.

It was also quiet in the County of Grande Prairie where there were no new cases or recoveries reported. There are currently three active cases in the County.

As a whole, Alberta added 23 new cases of COVID-19 on 5,897 tests completed, resulting in a 0.4 per cent test positivity rate. There are 697 active cases in the province.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of July 7 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,961 cases (five active, 3,927 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,415 cases (three active, 1,407 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 593 cases (589 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 33 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 82 cases (one active, 81 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 32 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (137 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 728 cases (14 active, 701 recovered, 13 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 379 cases (one active, 376 recovered, two deaths)
  • M.D. of Peace: 702 cases (12 active, 690 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 142 cases (11 active, 129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 311 cases (310 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,941 cases (15 active, 1,900 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Across the province, hospitalizations fell by seven to 133, while ICU patients grew by two to 32.

In the North Zone, 19 people are in hospital (up one) and two people are in ICU (same).

Fatalities

There were no deaths reported as a result of COVID-19 in Alberta for July 7. So far, 2,307 people have died as a result of COVID-19 in the province.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie, 34,000 people have been given at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 22,345 people, or 36.3 per cent of the population, are fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, 2,773,313 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while 1,954,653 Albertans have been fully vaccinated.

This means 73.7 per cent of eligible Albertans have been given at least one dose of the vaccine, while 52 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.
