No doctor coverage for Fairview ER Friday night

Alberta Health Services says there will no physician coverage for the emergency department at the Fairview Health Complex from 7 p.m. Friday night (July 9) until 7 a.m. Saturday morning (July 10).

AHS says in a release there will be nurses on-site to do assessments and triage.

Patients would be referred to other emergency departments as is required.

Fairview has been short of doctors, something that has led to several times recently where it has been temporarily without physician coverage.

Three new doctors have been recruited, but two of them are not expected to start practicing until fall.
