Dunk tank fund-raiser collects just under $1025 for Salvation Army

Jul 11, 2021 | 5:30 AM

A dunk-tank fund-raiser held on Canada Day in Muskoseepi Park has collected just under $1023.65 for the Salvation Army.

The fund-raiser was organized by the Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association.

Captain Peter Kim says the Salvation Army will use this money for its emergency disaster services.

“For the northwest. We actually service Grande Prairie and area. We also have a food truck that we are bringing out to be able to provide hydration for those who are suffering (in) this really hot weather.”

Kim says anybody who wants to help can donate money to the Salvation Army or drop off water at the Food Bank.

Association president Johnathan Clarkson says calls this a great opportunity to help out and stay connected to the community.

“We had numerous people step up and come in to get dunked. Of course, the community just rallied behind that. Once we made it a fund-raiser, we had the bucket of cash there that our staff from GPRTA was holding and getting people to come up and do the dunking.”

Several Pattison Media announcers and several local politicians all took turns in the dunk tank seat.
