Grande Prairie COVID-19 vaccine clinic expands eligibility for walk-in appointments

Jul 13, 2021 | 1:59 PM

Alberta Health Services says walk-in appointments for first doses of COVID-19 vaccine, as well as second doses for those who are eligible, are now available to all eligible residents at the Grande Prairie immunization clinic at the Montrose Cultural Centre.

Anyone aged 18 and older can now walk in to receive their first dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, as well as their second dose when eligible.

Those aged 12-17 (born in 2004-2009) are also eligible to walk in for either their first dose or second dose when eligible but will be offered Pfizer.

Those who received a first dose of AstraZeneca can also walk in to receive their second dose of either AstraZeneca or an mRNA vaccine. No first doses of AstraZeneca will be administered

The clinic is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week. Appointments can still be booked through the AHS website.

As of July 11, 55.6 per cent of the eligible population in Grande Prairie (34,273 people) have received at least one dose of vaccine. A total of 24,457, or 39.7 per cent of the eligible population, is fully vaccinated.
