Grande Prairie down to two active COVID-19 cases, Alberta adds 53

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the City of Grande Prairie is down to two, as the City added one recovery and no new cases.

The County of Grande Prairie added no new cases or recoveries for Wednesday. It remains at two active cases.

Alberta as a whole added 53 new COVID-19 cases on 6,216 tests, resulting in a 0.85 per cent test positivity rate. There are currently 578 active cases in the province.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of July 14 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,960 cases (two active, 3,929 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,417 cases (two active, 1,410 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 594 cases (590 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 33 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 82 cases (one active, 81 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 32 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 150 cases (three active, 137 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 729 cases (13 active, 703 recovered, 13 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 380 cases (378 recovered, two deaths)
  • M.D. of Peace: 703 cases (nine active, 694 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 144 cases (12 active, 130 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 136 cases (one active, 134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 311 cases (310 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,944 cases (15 active, 1,903 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Across the province, hospitalizations fell by six to 107, while ICU patients dropped by two to 31.

In the North Zone, 13 people are in hospital (down one), while one is in the ICU (same).

Fatalities

One new death was reported, bringing the province’s COVID-19 death toll to 2,311.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie, 34,510 people have been given at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while 25,948 people, or 42.1 per cent of the population, are fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, 2,799,252 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while 2,147,810 Albertans have been fully vaccinated.

This means 74.4 per cent of eligible Albertans have been given at least one dose of the vaccine, while 57.1 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.
