Grande Prairie COVID-19 active case count drops to one, Alberta adds 41

The City of Grande Prairie is down to just one active case of COVID-19, as it added one recovery and no new cases over the last 24 hours.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were no new cases or recoveries reported. There remain two active cases in the County.

Across Alberta, there were 41 new cases of COVID-19 identified on 6,365 tests, resulting in a 0.6 per cent test positivity rate. There are 579 active cases in the province.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of July 15 are as follows:

• City of Grande Prairie: 3,960 cases (one active, 3,930 recovered, 29 deaths)
• County of Grande Prairie: 1,417 cases (two active, 1,410 recovered, five deaths)
• M.D. of Greenview: 594 cases (590 recovered, four deaths)
• Birch Hills County: 33 cases (all recovered)
• M.D. of Spirit River: 82 cases (one active, 81 recovered)
• Saddle Hills County: 32 cases (all recovered)
• M.D. of Smoky River: 150 cases (three active, 137 recovered, 10 deaths)
• Big Lakes County: 730 cases (13 active, 704 recovered, 13 deaths)
• M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 380 cases (378 recovered, two deaths)
• M.D. of Peace: 703 cases (nine active, 694 recovered)
• M.D. of Fairview: 144 cases (10 active, 132 recovered, two deaths)
• Clear Hills County: 136 cases (one active, 134 recovered, one death)
• Northern Sunrise County: 311 cases (310 recovered, one death)
• County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
• Mackenzie County: 1,945 cases (13 active, 1,905 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Across the province, hospitalizations grew by three to 110, while the number of ICU patients fell by three to 28.

In the North Zone, 12 people are in hospital (down one), while one is in the ICU (same).

Fatalities

Two new COVID-19 deaths were reported, bringing the province’s COVID-19 death toll to 2,313.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie, 34,575 people have been given at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while 26,326 people, or 42.7 per cent of the population, are fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, 2,803,192 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while 2,177,629 Albertans have been fully vaccinated.

This means 74.5 per cent of eligible Albertans have been given at least one dose of the vaccine, while 57.9 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.
