Local players invited to Football Alberta Summer Series

Several local players will be taking part in the 2021 Football Alberta Summer Series of games Sunday in Red Deer.

The U17 team includes St. Joe’s running back Trae East and Peace River offensive lineman Connor Owens.

Both quarterbacks on the U18 team are from Grande Prairie, the Comp’s Liam Kroeger and Cade Labreque from St. Joe’s.

Four other Celtics are also on the U18 team. They are receiver Carter Kettyle, offensive lineman Matthew Ljuden and Carter Remillard, and defensive lineman Kaiden Edey.

The squad also includes two players from Peace River High School, offensive lineman Cyrus Rhoad and linebacker Braxton Rudneski.

Local bantam teams are also represented on a pair of U16 teams.

The Edmonton North Wildcats will include Dominic Bryce and Nate Oltmanns from the Sexsmith Shamrocks; Phoenix Fai and Marshall Limpert from the Grande Prairie Broncos; and Hastings Radbourne from the Grande Prairie Norsemen.

The Edmonton North Golden Bears will have Nathaniel Backe, Londen Michel, and Mackale Neba from the Broncos, Madex Rutherford from the Grande Prairie Raiders, and Cameron Pedersen from the Peace River Prospectors.

The schedule for Sunday is:

9:00 a.m. – U16 Edmonton & North Golden Bears vs. U16 Calgary Metro Colts

11:30 a.m. – U16 Edmonton & North Wildcats vs. U16 Calgary Metro Dinos

2:00 p.m. – U16 Central Alberta Huskies vs. U16 Southern Alberta Knights

4:30 p.m. – Team North U17 vs. Team South U17

7:00 p.m. – Team North U18 vs. Team South U18
