UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warnings for all areas of the Peace Country have ended.

—————-

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the area that includes Little Smoky, Valleyview and New Fish Creek in the Municipal District of Greenview, as well as for the Enilda and Joussard areas in Big Lakes County.

Environment Canada warns that the thunderstorm, which, as of 9:07 a.m. Tuesday, was located 25 kilometres south of Valleyview and moving to the northeast, could bring with it strong winds, up to toonie sized hail and heavy rain.

The weather office advises people to take cover immediatly if threatening weather approaches, as large hail can cause injury and damage property, and lightning strikes kill approximately three Canadians and injure another 180 each year.

Meteorologists are currently tracking the storm, and Environment Canada will provide updates on the storm as they become available.
