Elevated levels of Fecal Bacteria

Water quality advisory issued for Young’s Point Provincial Park Beach

Jul 20, 2021 | 4:46 PM

Elevated levels of fecal bacteria have returned to the beach area of Young’s Point Provincial Park, which has led Alberta Health Services to issue a water quality advisory.

The advisory means AHS is asking the public to not swim or wade in the water, effective immediately and until further notice.

An advisory for similar levels of fecal bacteria was issued for the beach area back on June 11 of this year, but was lifted on June 29.

“At current levels, gastrointestinal illness may result from ingestion of the water at Young’s Point Provincial Park beach,” warns AHS. “As well, there is the possibility of skin, ear and eye infections with water contact.”
