Wildfires forcing Canfor to cut back lumber production

Canfor says the wildfire situation in BC is forcing it to cut production at its sawmills.

Production is being cut by 115 million board feet company-wide.

Canfor says in a release the fires are interrupting the supply chain and making it hard to get lumber to market. The release also says there is a transportation backlog in Western Canada because of the fires.

The release also says the company will try to minimize the impact on employees and contractors.

A Canfor spokesperson says in an email to EverythingGP a two-week curtailment will start at the Grande Prairie mill on Monday and what are called “site-specific plans” are being developed.
