Culture Days coming in September

Jul 25, 2021 | 7:00 AM

Alberta Culture Days will run through the month of September and the Grande Prairie community is invited to take part.

Centre for Creative Arts executive director Candace Hook says people at her facility, the library, art gallery, and city hall are all organizing events, but they want to hear from others who may be doing something.

“We know that there are probably lots of other events happening throughout the city during Culture Days that we’re not aware of yet,” she said.

“So, we are asking people to send in their details so we can include them in a community-wide event listing so there can be one place in Grande Prairie where everyone can go to check out and see everything that’s happening for Alberta Culture Days this year.”

Hook says the plan is to have a mix of live and virtual events.

“We will have some live events happening at the Centre for Creative Arts, at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie, at the Grande Prairie Public Library, and at the museum,” Hook said. “We’ll also have some virtual events, and we’ll also have some at-home events happening.

“At the Centre for Creative Arts, we’re doing Chalk the Walk again. Families can come and pick up free packages of sidewalk chalk and make creations at home or throughout the city and send their images back in to us.”

The deadline to have something included in the list is August 13. It will be available at the end of August on the city and Centre for Creative Arts websites. Submission forms are also available on the city website.
