Roundtable with Municipal Candidates

GPIA to hold virtual roundtable with City Council and Mayor candidates

Jul 26, 2021 | 10:17 AM

The Grande Prairie Intercultural Association is hosting a virtual symposium with City Council and Mayor candidates for the upcoming municipal election to hear their plans on how they would create a diverse community.

The virtual roundtable will see the candidates asked to outline plans or initiatives that would promote inclusiveness and help the community grow.

The GPIA represents Indigenous peoples, immigrants and newcomers to Canada. The GPIA will ask the candidates questions related to the issues they face, such as creating improved access to mental health support, or programs that will help improve their lives and well-being.

Members may also ask questions on other topics such as economic development, the challenges of cultural integration amidst COVID-19, and creating positions within the city to work directly with Indigenous Peoples, immigrants and newcomers.
