Bodies of two missing men discovered outside of High Level Thursday

Jul 30, 2021 | 10:29 AM

High Level RCMP, while conducting a search for a missing 23-year-old man, discovered two deceased bodies in wooded areas on the outskirts of the community.

The RCMP, with assistance of volunteer searchers, were conducting a coordinated search for Keaton Talley, who had last been seen on July 14 or 15 in High Level.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., the search uncovered what the RCMP called “skeletal human remains” at the time. The remains are now believed to be those of 47-year-old Arthur Joel Gallant, who was last seen in High Level in December of 2020.

The RCMP say the circumstances surrounding Gallant’s death is not believed to be suspicious, and the remains have been sent to the Edmonton Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy and to verify the identity of the deceased.

Later that same evening, the search led to the discovery of another body on the northeast outskirts of High Level.

The RCMP have positively identified the deceased as Keaton Talley, and his remains have also been sent to the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

At this time, the RCMP do not consider Talley’s death suspicious, but are continuing to investigate this case.

The High Level RCMP wish to thank those who took part in the search efforts, as well as extend condolences to the families of the deceased.
