Environment Canada issues severe thunderstorm warning south of Grande Prairie

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the area south of the City of Grande Prairie Tuesday afternoon.

Environment Canada says as of 1:56 p.m. they were tracking a line of severe thunderstorms which are slowly moving to the east.

The weather office says the storms they are tracking are capable of producing very strong wind gusts, nickel to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain.

“Take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches,” says the weather office.

“Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.”
