Annual roadside cleanup kicks off in the County

Drivers on the roads in the County are asked to slow down and use caution as the annual roadside cleanup has kicked off.

Local non-profit groups will be cleaning up litter in the ditch between August 4 up until September 13.

The County says although cleanup crews will be wearing safety vests, they are encouraging drivers to keep their eyes out for volunteers and obey roadside signs.

Last year, 30 groups cleaned 283 km of County roads, raising $57,060 to support their groups.

The first group kicking off the roadside clean up on August 4 will be working alongside roads in:

  • Clairmont and the surrounding area on Range Road 63 from Highway 670 to 672 and Township Road 724 From Range Road 63 to Highway 2.
  • East County area on Township Road 712 from Range Road 51 to 79 Street.
  • West County area on Township Road 720 from Town of Beaverlodge boundary (Range Road 101) to Range Road 94 and Township Road 721 from Town of Beaverlodge boundary (Range Road 101) to Highway 723.

The second group will be on the roadsides cleaning over the weekend on August 7 and 8, including roads in:

  • Clairmont and the surrounding area on Crossroads South Industrial Park, West to 92 Street.
  • West County area on Range Road 100 from 98 Street to Township Road 750 and Township Road 750, from Range Road 100 East to Range Road 83.
  • Hamlet of Valhalla on Range Road 110 from Highway 59, North to Township Road 750 and Township Road 750 from Range Road 110, East to Range Road 100.

Finally, the third set of groups will be out from August 10 to August 13 on the following roads.

  • Resources Road area including, Resources Road, South from the Wedgewood subdivision and Township Road 110, from Resources Road East.
  • West County area on Township Road 720 from Town of Beaverlodge boundary (Range Road 101) to Range Road 104.
