$136 million made available to drought-stricken Alberta livestock producers
With below-average rainfall for much of the spring and summer and continued hot temperatures in recent weeks, livestock producers have faced one of their toughest years in recent memory.
“We’ve already seen many record-breaking dry days this year and we’ve hit a point where many are facing severe drought conditions,” Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said Friday afternoon.
With that, the province is making financial support available.
Alberta is allocating $136 million in immediate financial relief to livestock producers and Alberta beekeepers, Kenney said.
