Grande Prairie adds 26 new COVID-19 cases, 18 recoveries

There were 26 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the City of Grande Prairie for August 12, along with 18 recoveries. That brings the total number of active cases in the Swan City up to 267.

In the County of Grande Prairie, cases grew by nine up to 63.

Across Alberta, there were 582 new cases identified on 9,300 tests, resulting in a 6.2 per cent test positivity rate. Currently, there are 4,438 active cases in the province.

Active case totals, as of August 12, among Peace Region municipalities are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 267 active (+26)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 63 active (+9)
  • MD of Greenview: eight active (+1)
  • MD of Spirit River: four active (-)
  • Saddle Hills County: one active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 18 active (-)
  • MD of Fairview: five active (+2)
  • MD of Smoky River: nine active (+2)
  • Big Lakes County: 14 active (+6)
  • County of Northern Lights: three active (-)
  • Mackenzie County: 20 active (+5)

Over the last 24 hours in Alberta, hospitalizations grew by six to 152, while ICU patients grew by one to 37.

In the North Zone, there are 11 people in hospital due to COVID-19, two of whom are in intensive care.

In Grande Prairie, 58.3 per cent of residents eligible (aged 12 and older) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 49.7 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 76.7 per cent of the eligible population have received one dose of the vaccine, while 67.5 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
