UPDATE: Wildfire burning south of Grande Prairie now under control

UPDATE: The wildfire burning south of Grande Prairie in the Teddy Lane area east of Highway 40 is now considered as under control, according to Alberta Wildfire, at 0.5 of a hectare in size.

Crews are battling a wildfire south of Grande Prairie.

The fire, which is currently listed at 1 hectare in size and out of control, is located in the Teddy Lane area East of Highway 40.

Heavy equipment; multiple aircrafts and firefighters are working to contain this fire, which is currently not threatening any infrastructure at this time.

Since March 1st, there have been 91 wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest area, burning nearly 130 hectares.

The wildfire hazard in the area is listed as very high.
