One dead following Lakeland house fire Sunday
One person has been found dead inside of a home that was destroyed by a fire in the Lakeland neighbourhood of Grande Prairie Sunday night.
The Grande Prairie Fire Department says they were called to the home at around 10 p.m. August 15, where crews arrived to a fully involved fire which had completely engulfed one side of a duplex.
The fire was quickly suppressed, officials say, though surrounding properties were evacuated for a time Sunday night due to the threat of the blaze. Officials add two other units in the area sustained damage.
A fire department spokesperson says the deceased, who was not identified, was the lone occupant of the home at the time of the fire.
