UPDATE: Rainfall warning ended for Grande Prairie area

UPDATE: As of 10:30 a.m. Aug. 23 the rainfall warning for the Grande Prairie area has ended. A total of 34.8 mm of rain was recorded at the Grande Prairie Airport on Aug.22, which is less than half the unofficial record that day of 74.8 mm recorded in 1989.

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the Grande Prairie-Beaverlodge-Valleyview forecast area.

Heavy rain is expected to begin Saturday night, with 50 millimetres of rain expected by late Sunday night.

Rainfall warnings are issued when a significant amount of rainfall is expected.
