One man sent to hospital after alleged shooting at Woodland Cree First Nation

One man has been sent to hospital after an alleged shooting that took place on the Woodland Cree First Nation early Tuesday morning.

Peace Regional RCMP say just after 4:30 a.m. officers responded to reports of shots being fired from two separate vehicles towards a home in the community of Simon Lake. It was there EMS aided an adult male inside the home who had allegedly been shot.

Police say the victim is in stable condition and has been transferred to an Edmonton area hospital for further treatment.

Peace Regional RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Forensic Identification Section remain on scene as they continue the investigation. It is believed this incident was not a random event.

Authorities add they remain on the lookout for the two suspect vehicles involved in this incident, one of which is a red Jeep Wrangler with a light bar on the roof. The other is described as a four-door sedan, possibly grey or silver in colour, with a louder sounding exhaust.

Peace Regional RCMP are asking anyone with information about incident, who can assist in identifying those responsible, or can provide any surveillance footage to contact them at 780-624-6611.
