Grande Prairie adds 47 new COVID-19 cases, 24 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 47 new cases of COVID-19, along with 24 recoveries for August 25, bringing the active case total in the City up to 398.

Active cases in the County of Grande Prairie are up eight to 185 as of the end of day Wednesday, as there were 19 new cases and 11 recoveries recorded there.

Across Alberta, there were 1,112 new cases identified on August 25 from 10,572 tests, resulting in a 10.9 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of August 25, among Peace Region Municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 398 active (+23)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 185 active (+8)
  • MD of Greenview: 30 active (+2)
  • Birch Hills County: four active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: eleven active (+3)
  • Saddle Hills County: two active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 50 active (+11)

  • Big Lakes County: 39 active (+3)

Across the province, hospitalizations over the last 24 hours increased by 24 to 308, with 64 people in the ICU, an increase of eight.

Of the 244 non-ICU COVID patients, 193 are unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated. Of the 64 in ICU, 63 are unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated.

Hospitalizations jumped in the North Zone to 34 (up six) as of Wednesday night, while four people are in the ICU (up one).

In Grande Prairie, 59.4 per cent of residents eligible (aged 12 and older) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 51.3 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 77.6 per cent of the eligible population have received one dose of the vaccine, while 69.2 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
