Grande Prairie adds 31 new COVID-19 cases, 27 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 31 new cases of COVID-19, along with 27 recoveries, for Monday, August 30, bringing the active case total in the city up by four to 480.

In the County of Grande Prairie, active COVID-19 cases grew by three from Sunday to 193.

Across Alberta there were 920 new cases identified from testing on Monday, following the completion of 7,487 tests. Those tests had a positivity rate of 12.2 per cent.

There are currently 11,660 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

Across the province, hospitalizations grew by 30 over the last 24 hours to 431, with 106 people in the ICU, an increase of eight from Sunday.

In the North Zone, 53 people are in hospital (unchanged), six of which are in the ICU (unchanged).

There were four deaths reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, included the first COVID-19 related deaths in the MD of Peace and Spirit River areas.

There have now been 2,375 deaths linked to COVID-19 in Alberta.

In Grande Prairie, 59.9 per cent of residents eligible (aged 12 and older) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 51.8 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 78 per cent of the eligible population have received one dose of the vaccine, while 69.8 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
