Grande Prairie adds 27 new COVID-19 cases, 30 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 27 new cases of COVID-19, along with 30 recoveries for Tuesday, August 31, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down by three to 477.

In the County of Grande Prairie, active COVID-19 cases decreased by seven to 186.

Across Alberta, there were 1,315 new cases identified Tuesday, following the completion of 12,141 tests. Those tests had a positivity rate of 10.8 per cent.

There are currently 12,290 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

Active case totals, as of August 31 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 477 active (-3)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 186 active (-7)
  • MD of Greenview: 62 active (-1)
  • Birch Hills County: three active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: eight active (-1)
  • Saddle Hills County: four active (-1)
  • MD of Peace: 78 active (+11)
  • MD of Fairview: nine active (+1)
  • MD of Smoky River: 22 active (-10)
  • Big Lakes County: 65 active (-5)
  • Clear Hills County: three active (+2)
  • County of Northern Lights: 17 active (+7)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 28 active (+1)

Across the province, hospitalizations grew by 34 in the last 24 hours to 465, with 107 people in the ICU, an increase of one from Monday.

Of the 358 people non-ICU patients in hospital, 290 are either unvaccinated or are partially vaccinated. of the 107 in intensive care, 93 are unvaccinated, eight are partially vaccinated and six are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, 57 people are in hospital (up four) with seven patients in the ICU (up one).

Eight more deaths from COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours. A total of 2,383 Albertans have now died from COVID-19 complications.

In Grande Prairie, 60 per cent of residents who are eligible (those aged 12 and up) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 51.9 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 78.1 per cent of the eligible population have received one dose of the vaccine, while 69.9 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
