Mandatory masks indoors, $100 vaccine incentive among Alberta’s measures to curb COVID-19’s spread
Due to increasing COVID-19 transmission and sharply rising hospital admissions in Alberta, especially amongst the unvaccinated, the Alberta government is bringing in temporary measures aimed at reducing the spread of the virus.
Among those new measures is the reinstatement of mandatory masks for all indoor public spaces and workplaces starting on September 4 at 8 a.m. Schools are not required to implement masking, but local school boards can choose to do so.
Also starting Saturday, restaurants and bars and other licensed establishments will be required to end alcohol service at 10 p.m.
For those who are unvaccinated, they are strongly urged to limit their indoor social gatherings to close contacts of only two cohort families, up to a maximum of 10 people.
