Wendy Bosch running for seat on Grande Prairie city council

Sep 6, 2021 | 7:00 AM

The list of Grande Prairie residents vying for a seat on Grande Prairie City Council is continuing to climb.

Wendy Bosch, the Executive Director for the Grande Prairie Downtown Association, is the latest resident to add their name to the October 18 ballot.

Bosch tells EverythingGP she decided to take a run at council because she wants to help the business community thrive in the city, after seeing firsthand the impact the pandemic has had.

“I’ve been a part of these businesses and what they’ve been through in the last while and I want to continue to assist where I can,” she said.

“I want to come up with new ideas and be physically responsible to our community and drive growth to this area. We are an economic driver for Alberta and we need to showcase this, we need to show other regions how strong we are and how we’ve gone through such adversity.”

She says another thing she’d like to do is get the economy back up and thriving.

“We need to get people back to work. We need to get our economy rolling and we need to keep our kids in activities they love. We need opportunities to come to Grande Prairie through business that creates increased employment and a great quality of life for all the citizens here.”

If she gets a seat on council, she added she’d like to bring new ideas to the table.

“I think there’s always room for new ideas and thinking outside of the box. We have to not stay stagnant where we are, we have to push through and growth is the only move forward,” she expressed.

Bosch joins a list of 18 candidates who intend to run for council this fall, including:
