One person has been sent to hospital with burns after a house fire in Clairmont Monday.

The County Regional Fire Service was called to the blaze at around 4:30 on September 6, where reports indicated occupants were trapped inside the home.

Crews initiated an aggressive operation to remove those inside the home safely, with one person being taken to hospital for burns, while two cats and a dog were safely removed from the home.

The County fire marshall is investigating the cause of the blaze, which also caused heat damage to a neighbouring home.

With this though, the County fire department is reminding residents to check to ensure they have working smoke detectors in their homes.
