Sep 9, 2021 | 12:27 PM

Jasper RCMP say a 21-year-old from Beaumont has died following a collision along Highway 16 west of Jasper Wednesday night, which involved two Grande Prairie residents.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday, Jasper RCMP responded to a report of a serious collision approximately 6 km west of the municipality. A preliminary investigation suggested an eastbound sedan, while passing other vehicles, collided head on with a westbound pick-up truck.

The driver of the sedan was declared dead at the scene, while the two occupants of the pick-up truck, a 30-year-old male driver and 29-year-old female passenger from Grande Prairie, were taken to hospital but have since been released with minor injuries.

An RCMP Collision Analyst is assisting with the Jasper RCMP’s investigation into this collision.

No other updates are anticipated.
