This story has been updated from its original version.

Local fire crews say no one was hurt as a result of a fire in Sexsmith which destroyed one home and damaged three others.

Crews from the Sexsmith Fire Department, Wembley Fire Department and County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service Clairmont and Dunes stations were called to the blaze along 105 street in the Rycroft Ridge Subdivision at around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Upon arrival, crews found a two-storey home fully engulfed in flames. They say the fire had spread to a neighbouring home and two other homes were exposed to radiant heat before the fire was brought under control.

The home where the fire originated has been deemed to be a total loss, while the neighbouring home to the source of the blaze did suffer significant fire damage, but many contents are salvageable, according to fire crews.

The other two exposed homes suffered radiant heat damage to the siding and roofs but are habitable and those residents have returned to their homes.

Fire crews will be on scene throughout the morning mopping up hot spots, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the County Fire Marshall.
