Grande Prairie adds 28 new COVID-19 cases, 56 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 28 new COVID-19 cases along with 56 recoveries over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases in the Swan City down to 460.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 11 new cases and 26 recoveries identified over the last 24 hours, there are 170 active cases in the County.

Across Alberta added 1,718 new cases on 16,300 tests, resulting in a 10.6 per cent test positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of September 15 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 460 active (-28)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 170 active (-15)
  • MD of Greenview: 74 active (+1)
  • Birch Hills County: two active (-1)
  • MD of Spirit River: 18 active (-)
  • Saddle Hills County: seven active (+1)
  • MD of Peace: 128 active (+4)
  • MD of Fairview: 34 active (-)
  • MD of Smoky River: 18 active (+4)
  • Big Lakes County: 109 active (-)
  • Clear Hills County: 27 active (+6)
  • County of Northern Lights: 57 active (+2)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 17 active (-5)
  • Mackenzie County: 225 active (+19)

Across Alberta, hospitalizations grew by 19 to 896, while ICU patients grew by four to 222.

Of the 222 people in the ICU, 87.5 per cent of patients are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, hospitalizations grew by one to 99, while ICU patients fell by one to 13.

In Grande Prairie, 62.3 per cent of residents who are eligible (those aged 12 and up) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 53.9 per cent of the eligible population have been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 79.6 per cent of the eligible population have received one dose of the vaccine, while 71.5 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
