Maskwôtêh Park temporarily closed as pedestrian bridge construction continues
The City of Grande Prairie says Maskwôtêh Park will be closed to the public from September 22 to 26 as crews install a steel structure for a pedestrian bridge.
The city says the installation of the steel structure is planned for Friday. Two cranes will lift the nearly 30-tonne superstructure into place from the north support structure. Concrete deck panels will then be installed and a paved trail connecting the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital to the bridge will also be installed.
The city adds the closure of the park is so crews can safely carry out the bridge superstructure installation. Pedestrians will be temporarily diverted from the area during the closure.
Construction of the new Maskwôtêh Park pedestrian bridge is set to be complete in late October, dependent on weather.
