Sep 23, 2021 | 11:00 AM

RCMP in Spirit River are asking for any witnesses who might’ve seen a drive by shooting in the Wanham area or a collision on Highway 49 and Range Road 42 to come forward and speak to police.

Mounties say they received a report at 4:45 a.m. on September 22 regarding a drive by shooting at a residence located in Wanham.

While officers were on their way to the residence, they received a report of a two-vehicle collision in the area of Highway 49 and Range Road 42.

Police say at 5:00 a.m., a dark blue Ford F-350 truck was involved in a collision with a black Acura car. The Acura is believed to have been driven by unknown suspects related to the shooting.

When police arrived on scene, a third-party witness that was not involved in the collision had advised that all individuals involved in the incident had left the scene.

So far, the RCMP’s efforts to locate the occupants of the vehicle were unsuccessful.

Spirit River RCMP, along with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services, conducted a search of the surrounding area and a firearm was located and believed to be related to this incident.

This incident is believed to have been targeted and it is not believed there is a risk to the public.
