Grande Prairie adds 37 new COVID-19 cases, 44 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 37 new COVID-19 cases, along with 44 recoveries over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases in the city down to 458.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 14 new cases and 18 recoveries identified. There are 234 active cases in that region.

Across Alberta, 1,651 new cases were identified following the completion of 16,848 tests, resulting in a 9.7 per cent test positivity rate.

There were 11 deaths reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the province’s COVID-19 death toll to 2,622.

Active case totals, as of September 23 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 458 active (-7)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 234 active (-4)
  • MD of Greenview: 120 active (+1)
  • Birch Hills County: five active (+1)
  • MD of Spirit River: 13 active (-)
  • Saddle Hills County: nine active (-1)
  • MD of Peace: 158 active (-2)
  • MD of Fairview: 49 active (+1)
  • MD of Smoky River: 29 active (+2)
  • Big Lakes County: 120 active (+1)
  • Clear Hills County: 42 active (+3)
  • County of Northern Lights: 81 active (-3)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 38 active (+3)
  • Mackenzie County: 210 active (-26)

Across the province, hospitalizations for COVID-19 grew by three to 1,061, while the number of ICU patients grew by 17 to 243.

In the North Zone, 142 people are in hospital (up seven), while the number of ICU patients remained stable at 12.

In Grande Prairie, 65.8 per cent of residents who are eligible (those aged 12 and up) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 55.6 per cent of the eligible population have been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 82.3 per cent of the eligible population have received one dose of the vaccine, while 73.4 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
