High Prairie RCMP investigating police officer impersonator

UPDATE: The McLennan RCMP with the assistance of the Western Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit, recovered the unmarked RCMP vehicle unoccupied in Falher.

The search for the suspect remains ongoing.

The High Prairie RCMP is investigating a situation where an individual was believed to have been impersonating a police officer at a rural residence southwest of High Prairie.

Police say on Thursday night at 9:51 p.m. they responded to a 911 call where a homeowner reported an adult male suspect driving a Ford F150 pulled into their driveway.

The male suspect reportedly turned on red and blue flashing lights on the Ford F150, upon seeing the homeowner.

Mounties say the male suspect who was dressed in civilian attire, reportedly identified himself as a police officer and asked the homeowner for fuel.

Officers say the homeowner did provide the suspect with gas before he fled towards High Prairie.

The RCMP says the male suspect did not provide police identification.

The male suspect is described by police to have a medium complexion with clean-cut short hair and a scar on his nose or lip.

He was last seen was wearing jeans, a coat, cowboy boots, and a skull ring on his right hand during the incident.

On Sept. 23, 2021, Slave Lake RCMP say they found out one of their unmarked vehicles was unaccounted for. After further investigation, it revealed that the vehicle would have been taken from the Slave Lake RCMP Detachment parking lot sometime overnight on Sept. 19, 2021.

It is believed that the stolen unmarked RCMP vehicle may have been used in this incident

The stolen unmarked RCMP vehicle is a 2014 Black Ford F150, quad cab with black tinted windows, bearing Alberta Licence CBA767, and is equipped with red and blue police lights and a siren.

Mounties say there were no police intervention options in the vehicle.
