Grande Prairie adds 16 new COVID-19 cases, 41 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 16 new cases of COVID-19 along with 41 recoveries for Monday, September 27, bringing the active case total in the city down by 25 to 483.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 17 new cases identified and 19 recoveries, where there are now 284 active cases.

Across Alberta, there were 1,246 new COVID-19 cases identified on Monday, following the completion of 11,144 tests, resulting in an 11.1 per cent test positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of September 27 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 483 active (-25)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 284 active (-2)
  • MD of Greenview: 135 active (-4)
  • Birch Hills County: 15 active (+5)
  • MD of Spirit River: eight active (-2)
  • Saddle Hills County: 10 active (+1)
  • MD of Peace: 183 active (-3)
  • MD of Fairview: 68 active (+4)
  • MD of Smoky River: 49 active (+2)
  • Big Lakes County: 133 active (-5)
  • Clear Hills County: 45 active (-4)
  • County of Northern Lights: 87 active (-6)

Across the province, hospitalizations grew by 37 up to 1,100, while ICU patients dropped by two to 263.

Of those in intensive care, 229 are in intensive care, 10 are partially vaccinated at 24 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, 150 people are in hospital (+8), while 11 people are in the ICU (-1).

There were 18 deaths from COVID-19 reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the province’s COVID-19 death toll to 2,663.

In Grande Prairie, 67 per cent of residents who are eligible (those aged 12 and up) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 56.3 per cent of the eligible population have been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 83.2 per cent of the eligible population have received one dose of the vaccine, while 74 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
