Cypress County Councillor elected to executive of national municipal lobbying group

CYPRESS COUNTY, AB- Councillor Robin Kurpjuweit has been elected Chair of the Rural Caucus for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

According to a press release issued by Cypress County Kurpjuweit was elected to Chair of the Rural Caucus, after the long-time Chair Ray Orb, Reeve of the MD of Cupar, SK, decided to step down from the role.

“Today, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities advocates for municipalities to be sure their citizens’ needs are reflected in federal policies and programs.” said Councillor Robin Kurpjuweit, in a press release statement

“Year after year, FCMs work benefits every municipal government and taxpayer in Canada, and their programming delivers tools that help municipalities tackle local challenges. I am proud to be representing rural Alberta in this forum.” Councillor Kurpjuweit added.

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities has been the national voice of municipal government since 1901. Members include more than 2,000 municipalities of all sizes, from Canada’s cities and rural communities to northern communities and 20 provincial and territorial municipal associations. They represent more than 90 per cent of all Canadians from coast to coast to coast.

Kurpjuweit is one of seven Alberta Caucus members.
