Grande Prairie adds 30 new COVID-19 cases, 40 recoveries.

There were 30 new cases of COVID-19 along with 40 recoveries recorded in the City of Grande Prairie for September 30. There are now 497 active cases in the city.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 17 new cases and 18 recoveries identified, bringing the total number of active cases down to 291.

Across Alberta there were 1,630 cases found on 15,857 tests, resulting in a 10.2 per cent test positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of September 30 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 497 active (-10)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 291 active (-1)
  • MD of Greenview: 154 active (+9)
  • Birch Hills County: 21 active (+1)
  • MD of Spirit River: nine active (+1)
  • Saddle Hills County: eight active (+1)
  • MD of Peace: 184 active (+2)
  • MD of Fairview: 72 active (+2)
  • MD of Smoky River: 51 active (+3)
  • Big Lakes County: 120 active (-7)
  • Clear Hills County: 36 active (-2)
  • County of Northern Lights: 67 active (-6)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 64 active (+3)
  • Mackenzie County: 228 active (+3)

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped by 17 to 1,066, while the number of ICU patients held steady at 263.

Of those in the ICU, 227 people are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone hospitalizations grew by two to 149, while ICU patients remained stable at 12.

There were 14 more deaths reported as a result of COVID-19 in the province meaning 2,731 Albertans have now died as a result of the disease.

In Grande Prairie, 67.7 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (56.2 per cent of the total population), while 56.8 per cent of the eligible population have been fully vaccinated (47.1 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 83.8 per cent of the eligible population has received one dose of the vaccine, while 74.5 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
