Cars for Christmas ticket sales now open

Oct 2, 2021 | 7:00 AM

Phone and online ticket sales have started for this year’s Cars for Christmas lottery.

The lottery officially launched Friday.

Swan City Rotary Club lottery chair Pam Nordin says the goal every year is to sell out.

“One goal is to get to 70 per cent online sales. We will be selling in person but because of the pandemic we realize that not everybody can come out to us.”

The ticket kiosk in the Prairie Mall is scheduled to open October 26.

This is the 22nd edition of the Cars for Christmas lottery. A dozen local groups will benefit from the money raised. They are:

Centre for Creative Arts

¨ Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools Education Foundation

¨ Hythe & District Agricultural Society

¨ PARDS

¨ Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention

¨ United Way Alberta Northwest

¨ Regional EMS Foundation

¨ Grande Prairie Gymnastics Society

¨ Swan City Rotary Club

¨ Rotaract Club of Grande Prairie

¨ Rotary Club of Grande Prairie, After Five

Nordin says a change this year would allow any of the winners of the top five prizes to take cash instead.

“The Winter Warrior package, which is the grand prize, you can either take the truck, Skidoo, and trailer or a $100,000 cash payout. That’s new this year and we’re really, really excited to be able to offer that.”
