Wildfire danger low in Grande Prairie Forest Area

The wildfire danger level for the Grande Prairie Forest Area has been bumped down to low as of October 5.

Alberta Wildfire is reminding residents that fire permits are required for any type of burning in the Forest Protection Area until October 31. The only exception is for a cooking or warming campfire.

Fire permits can be found by contacting Alberta Wildfire.

Since the beginning of the wildfire season, March 1, 2021, there have been 101 wildfires burning nearly 132 hectares of land in the Grande Prairie Forest Area.
