Grande Prairie adds 13 new COVID-19 cases, 47 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 13 new COVID-19 cases along with 47 recoveries for October 5, bringing the total number of active cases in the city down to 476.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were eight new cases identified and 25 recoveries, there are currently 236 active cases in that region.

Across Alberta, there were 1,263 new cases identified on 15,400 tests, resulting in an 8.2 per cent test positivity rate. There are 18,912 active cases in the province, down from 19,456 the day prior.

There were 26 deaths reported as a result of COVID-19 in the province, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in Alberta up to 2,804.

Active case totals, as of October 5 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 476 active (-34)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 236 active (-17)
  • MD of Greenview: 140 active (-14)
  • Birch Hills County: 16 active (-3)
  • MD of Spirit River: Seven active (-1)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 active (+5)
  • MD of Peace: 147 active (-12)
  • MD of Fairview: 68 active (-9)
  • MD of Smoky River: 54 active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: 126 active (+5)
  • Clear Hills County: 21 active (-4)
  • County of Northern Lights: 54 active (-2)

Across the province, hospitalizations fell by 11 down to 1,083, while ICU patients also declined by five from 252 to 247.

In the North Zone, 155 people are in hospital (up seven), while 10 people are in the ICU (down one).

Of the 247 Albertans in the ICU right now, 209 are unvaccinated against COVID-19.

In Grande Prairie, 68.8 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (57.1 per cent of the total population), while 57.7 per cent of the eligible population have been fully vaccinated (47.9 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 84.6 per cent of the eligible population has received one dose of the vaccine while 75.2 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
