NO Physician Coverage

Fairview Emergency Department without physician coverage for 24 hours starting Friday

Oct 7, 2021 | 4:57 PM

The Fairview Health Complex Emergency Department will be without physician coverage temporarily for 24 hours starting Friday, October 8 at 7 a.m.

Physician coverage is expected to return at 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 9.

Alberta Health Services says nursing staff will remain on-site in the emergency department providing triage and assessments, and referring patients to emergency departments in surrounding communities as needed.

For the time being, EMS calls will be re-routed to surrounding facilities such as the Grimshaw/Berwyn and District Community Health Centre, the Central Peace Health Complex in Spirit River, and the Peace River Community Health Centre.

Patients needing urgent emergency medical care are still asked to call 911.

AHS says in a release that depending on the needs of patients seeking care, the emergency department in Fairview could be notified of services available at local pharmacies.

Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency, health-related questions.
