Grande Prairie adds 33 new COVID-19 cases, 46 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 33 new cases of COVID-19 along with 46 recoveries for Thursday, October 7, bringing the active case total in the city down by 13 to 454.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were seven new cases identified along with 29 recoveries. There are now 210 active cases in that region.

As a whole, Alberta added 1,256 new cases Thursday on 14,736 tests, resulting in an 8.5 per cent test positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of October 7 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 454 active (-13)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 210 active (-22)
  • MD of Greenview: 135 active (+1)
  • Birch Hills County: 16 active (-2)
  • MD of Spirit River: 11 active (-)
  • Saddle Hills County: 20 active (+2)
  • MD of Peace: 127 active (-12)
  • MD of Fairview: 66 active (-4)
  • MD of Smoky River: 53 active (-1)
  • Big Lakes County: 117 active (-9)
  • Clear Hills County: 16 active (-4)
  • County of Northern Lights: 54 active (-1)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 51 active (-)

Across the province, hospitalizations grew by seven to 1,101, while ICU patients grew by two to 250.

Of those admitted into intensive care with COVID-19, 206 are unvaccinated and 26 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, there are 170 people in the hospital (up seven), while 10 people are in the ICU (down one).

There were 16 deaths reported to Alberta Health as a result of COVID-19, bringing the provinces death toll from COVID up to 2,830.

In Grande Prairie, 69.1 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (57.3 per cent of the total population), while 58.1 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (48.2 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 84.9 per cent of the eligible population has received one dose of the vaccine while 75.5 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
