One killed in Highway 43 collision near Beaverlodge Monday

A 36-year-old woman has died following a two-vehicle collision along Highway 43 east of Beaverlodge Monday evening.

Beaverlodge RCMP were called to the collision between an SUV and pickup truck, near Highway 723, shortly after 5:15 p.m on Oct. 11. Wembley and Beaverlodge Fire Services, as well as EMS, also attended the scene.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation suggests a female driver, who was the lone occupant of her vehicle, was heading westbound. At the same time, a male driver and lone occupant of his vehicle were heading east.

The female driver, from Grande Cache, was transported by STARS to the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Grande Prairie in critical condition. She later succumbed to her injuries.

The 62-year-old male driver, from Hythe, remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Beaverlodge RCMP is now putting out a call to the public for any information in relation to this collision.
