Grande Prairie adds seven new COVID-19 cases, 45 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded seven new cases of COVID-19 and 45 recoveries for Tuesday, October 12, bringing the active case total in the city down to 345.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were three new cases along with 24 recoveries. There are now 125 active cases there.

As a whole, Alberta added 652 new cases following the completion of 8,620 tests on Tuesday, resulting in a 7.6 per cent test positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of October 12 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 345 active (-38)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 125 active (-19)
  • MD of Greenview: 88 active (-14)
  • Birch Hills County: Four active (-4)
  • MD of Spirit River: 16 active (+5)
  • Saddle Hills County: 28 active (+1)
  • MD of Peace: 93 active (-11)
  • MD of Fairview: 46 active (-1)
  • MD of Smoky River: 41 active (-5)
  • Big Lakes County: 101 active (-10)
  • Clear Hills County: Seven active (-1)
  • County of Northern Lights: 45 active (+3)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 30 active (-2)
  • Mackenzie County: 191 active (-2)

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped by 26 to 1,027, while the number of ICU patients dropped by six to 236.

Of those admitted into intensive care with COVID-19, 199 are unvaccinated, 16 are partially vaccinated and 21 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, there are 161 people in the hospital (down three), while 13 people are in the ICU (up one).

There were 38 deaths across the province reported to Alberta Health as a result of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the province’s death toll up to 2,901.

In Grande Prairie, 69.8 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (57.9 per cent of the total population), while 59 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (48.9 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 85.5 per cent of the eligible population has received one dose of the vaccine while 76.2 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
