New ophthalmologist establishing practice in Grande Prairie

Alberta Health Services says a new eye doctor has been practicing in Grande Prairie for almost four months.

In a news release dated October 13, AHS says ophthalmologist Dr. Amy Sze started practicing in late June after relocating here with her family from Hong Kong.

“I’m looking forward to experiencing life in Canada, getting to know more about how people in the community live and interact, as well as learning about their culture and practices,” says Dr. Sze

Dr. Sze works out of the Dr. Steve Roberts clinic and the QE II hospital, becoming Grande Prairie’s fourth ophthalmologist.

Ophthalmologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of eye-related conditions.

AHS says Dr. Sze completed her medical training at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, followed by ophthalmology training at the Hong Kong Eye Hospital. The healthcare administrator adds she specializes in cataract surgery, medical retina and uveitis, general ophthalmology in the scope of cornea and external eye disease, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology and oculoplastics.

“I’m very pleased we have a new ophthalmologist to provide important care to Grande Prairie and region residents and families,” said Travis Toews, MLA for Grande Prairie-Wapiti.

“Grande Prairie has an excellent team of physicians and we are excited to add further healthcare resources to the region.”
