A fundraiser for the Kyler Kindness Fund is taking place on Friday, October 15 in Clairmont.

The Kyler Kindness Fund was created back in September in honour of the late Kyler Commandeur who was killed at the age of 19 in a homicide back in June 2020.

Kyler’s mother, Danielle Commandeur says 100 per cent of the money raised at the event will go towards the fund, which aims at helping youth aged 16 to 25 with any struggles they may have, helping them become productive members of society.

“If somebody, say, was offered a job, then they can apply to the fund for a pair of work boots or help with their tuition to further their careers.”

The fundraiser is donation-based and will be taking place at their family shop, Commandeur Mechanical, on October 15, which is also the anniversary of the family business starting up.

Danielle says burgers and hot dogs will be provided as well as a bucket to collect donations.

“We will also have information on the John Howard Society, which is our partner in the fundraiser, and hoodies that people can buy for the Kyler Kindness fund to help support.”

Danielle says Kyler was very community-minded and always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and strangers, which is why they wanted to create a fund that works to help people in the community.

“If Kyler saw a friend in need or even a stranger in need, he would be the first one there to help them out, so whether he was near or far, he would drop everything to help them out.”

Danielle says everyone is welcome to drop by and say hello, talk, or donate on Friday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Commandeur Mechanical.
