Construction inching closer to completion on downtown rehabilitation project
Construction on Phase 4 of Grande Prairie’s downtown rehabilitation project is slowly inching closer to completion.
So far, no date has been set for when 100 Avenue could re-open to traffic, but Project Manager for Phase 4 of the project, Conor Coney, says they have managed to make quite a bit of progress over the last couple of months.
“The bulk of the work has been completed this year. We’ve completed a majority of the work which is the sanitary, water and storm replacement. We’ve built the grid back up, and now we have a complete hard roadway surface that’s been paved and most of the hard sidewalks have been surfaced.”
Because of the cooler weather moving into the Swan City with the fall season here, Coney said some small work will need to be put off until the temperatures warm up.
