Child dies following collision in Saddle Hills County
Spirit River RCMP say a child has died following a collision between a water truck and a dirt bike Friday evening in Saddle Hills County, east of Dawson Creek.
Police say they were called to what is described as a serious injury collision just before 6 p.m. on October 22. Authorities say the collision happened near the Alberta-B.C. border, south Highway 49 and Township Road 784.
Spirit River and Dawson Creek RCMP, along with members of the Bonanza Volunteer Fire Department and EMS attended the scene, where the child was pronounced deceased.
The RCMP’s initial investigation determined the driver of the water truck had made repeated trips between properties that day when during one of the trips, the young child on the dirt bike was in the path of the truck and was struck as the water truck was backing up.
