Grande Prairie records 11 new COVID-19 cases, 23 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 11 new cases of COVID-19 and 23 recoveries for Tuesday, October 26, bringing the active case total in the city down to 188.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were seven new cases and 18 recoveries recorded on Tuesday, leaving that region with 97 active cases.

As a whole, Alberta added 645 new cases following the completion of approximately 11,343 tests, resulting in a 5.7 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of October 26 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 188 active (-12)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 97 active (-11)
  • MD of Greenview: 21 active (-2)
  • Birch Hills County: six active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: seven active (-6)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 active (-2)
  • MD of Peace: 60 active (-6)
  • MD of Fairview: 16 active (-)
  • MD of Smoky River: nine active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: 92 active (-23)
  • Clear Hills County: five active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: 10 active (-1)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 15 active (-2)
  • Mackenzie County: 199 active (-15)

Across the province, hospitalizations decreased by 26 to 810, while the number of ICU patients went up by one to 184.

Of those admitted to intensive care with COVID-19, 149 are unvaccinated, 12 are partially vaccinated, and 23 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, there are 107 people in the hospital (down 10), while 10 people are in the ICU (unchanged).

There were 10 deaths from COVID-19 reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 3,073.

In Grande Prairie, 71.6 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (59.3 per cent of the total population), while 63 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (52.3 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 86.8 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 79.4 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
